Chocolate Waffles
If you’re looking for a twist on the traditional Sunday brunch, check out this recipe for chocolate waffles. These are delicious, easy to make and will provide a rich surprise for friends and family. Each waffle iron cooks a different way, so follow the instructions/manual that came with the waffle maker for the best results.
Ingredients
1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
½ cup of cacao powder
1/2 cup of sugar
1 tsp of vanilla extract
¼ tsp of instant espresso powder
2 eggs
2 tsp of baking powder
¼ tsp of salt
½ tsp of baking soda
1 ½ cups of buttermilk
½ cup of unsalted butter, melted
Preparation Process
In a large bowl, fully combine the flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, cacao powder, instant espresso and sugar.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, butter, eggs and vanilla until completely mixed.
Pour the buttermilk mixture into the flour mixture and stir gently, making sure to combine the ingredients without completely mixing. Set aside for 5 minutes.
Preheat your waffle iron (using the manufacturer’s guidelines), and lightly spray vegetable oil on the surface.
Cook the waffles per the guidelines from the manufacturer and serve.
