Vegan Chola (Chana Masala)

1 15 oz can chickpeas
3 tbsp olive oil
1 pinch asafetida
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp chickpea flour (also known as besan)
1 large tomato
1 tsp ginger paste
1 green chili
2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Salt to taste
1/4 tsp garam masala
1 tsp chopped cilantro
Thinly sliced tomatoes for garnish
