Breakfast Coconut Chutney

Chutney is a broad term for a family of sauces and condiments served throughout India. This recipe is for a sweet chutney that can be eaten as an accompaniment for dosas or naan, ideally at breakfast. If you aren’t comfortable with making dosas or naan from scratch, frozen versions can be readily purchased at grocers like Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. The chef in this video is extremely personable and offers detailed explanations for each step. I love his process for cracking a coconut!

The ingredients in the recipe should be available at large supermarkets, but you may have better luck finding higher quality and a broader selection at an Indian grocer. If you haven’t yet been to an Indian market, you’ll be delighted by the range of fruits, vegetables, spices and rice.
